JetBackup Backups fail with 'remote username contains invalid characters'

Hey everyone! 👋

I know how frustrating it can be when you're trying to work with the Plugin Repository and run into connection issues. Don't worry - I've put together this guide to help you get everything working smoothly again.

Quick Solutions Based on Your Setup

We've got fixes for both IPv6 and IPv4 configurations. Let's get you back up and running!

Solution for IPv6 Users

If your server is running on IPv6, you'll need to whitelist our repository's IPv6 address. Here's what you need to add:

repo-prod-ams3.jetlicense.com - 2a03:b0c0:2:d0::16a1:7001

Solution for IPv4 Users

Working with IPv4? You can force your server to use IPv4 by adding this line to your /etc/hosts file:

64.225.76.83 repo.jetlicense.com

Complete Fix Process

  1. Apply the appropriate IP configuration (IPv6 or IPv4) as shown above
  2. Navigate to PluginsAvailable PluginsSSH (Legacy)Reinstall
  3. Reinstall the SSH (Legacy) plugin
  4. Restart the JetBackup service using this command:
    service jetbackup5d restart
